PSWA Workshop
A small group of regulars gathered around to watch Del Herbert
demonstrate the basics of IWCA style painting on a hen puddle
duck. As always, the demo was great. Del can make it happen in
just a few simple steps. The key factors to success are a good,
well blended base coat with a twice-stippled texture that sets
the basic tones to the base coat. An educated plan for feather
layout and the three basic tints and shades of color. Finally,
the great experience Del has developed to apply the paint. Getting
the colors just right before application. Choosing and using the
right brush loaded just right and following a series of steps
to build a single feather. We are all hoping that a lot of this
will rub off on us. We should all be practicing this right now.
Thanks, Del!!!
P.S. PSWA offers these monthly free learning seminars. Any member
is welcome. Please come and get involved.
Bob Berry

PSWA
is actively involved in promoting wildlife art and enriching
the community through many forums including outreach programs,
seminars,
workshops and monthly study groups. These photos show a group
of eleven new carvers who got together two afternoons in January
to
try their hands at creating a "soon
to be antique".
These reproductions of antique shorebirds were carved in one
four
hour session and painted in
another.
Under
the tutlage of Bob Berry these eleven novice carvers were introduced
to the exciting venue of wildfowl art and went home with
a special piece of art to grace the fireplace mantle. The smiles on their
faces is one outward sign of the satisfaction all felt and the reward
for their efforts was obvious.
